CEO Mentors

Cal Harrison (MBA, CMC, BA)

Cal is a twenty+ year veteran of the marketing, advertising, and consulting sectors. Cal, President of Beyond Referrals, launched the company as a means to help consultants sell professional services more effectively and to help buyers of professional services to more accurately select the best firm. Cal is a frequent speaker across North America and the Caribbean and has addressed audiences ranging from The Harvard Business School Alumni to the Purchasing Management Association of Canada. In addition, Cal is a lecturer at The University of Manitoba and The University of Winnipeg.

Rick Workman

With over 40 years of experience in the IT industry, Rick’s top strength is IT management consulting with past experience including: business plan development and implementation, project management, managing large scale budgets, and rolling out large scale IT projects. For most of his career, Rick worked for IBM in marketing and senior management roles followed by four years at Momentum Health as COO. In 2004 Rick founded a consulting firm, Workman & Associates, to provide independent consulting to companies such as IBM and other Winnipeg based organizations.

Rob Amborsky (P Eng.)

Over the span of 29 years, Robert’s executive management experience with product development ventures has enabled him to understand what is essential in bringing new products to the market. Robert has worked in both public and private industries and was VP of Strategic Product Development for KT Industries Inc., prior to becoming a consultant. His company, RPA Engineering, is a consulting firm that specializes in helping businesses and entrepreneurs develop new products and processes or revitalize existing ones. He holds a number of patents and has published papers on new technologies and product developments.

Marc Caron (BSc, EE, P Eng., MBA, CMC)

Marc is experienced in managing start-ups from inception to exit in the areas of business and technology. As co-founder of Escape Communications, an Internet Service Provider, Marc has firsthand experience as a successful entrepreneur. Escape’s expansion included 10 acquisitions and was eventually bought out by MTS. Similarly, the internet pharmaceutical company he co-founded was successfully bought out by a competitor. Marc’s traditional experience includes roles in executive management (CIO/CTO, President), project management and senior consulting. Marc is currently President of Paradyme Consultants, an IT consulting firm providing services around the globe.

Lisa Bako (BComm Hons)

Lisa Bako’s main areas of focus include marketing and relationship management. An entrepreneur, Lisa has worked with both profit and non-profit organizations, nationally and internationally, in a variety of sectors including Internet technology, telecommunications, and most recently in the health sector.

John Pozios (J.D., MBA)

John Pozios is the Director of the Marcel A. Desautels Centre for Private Enterprise and the Law and the Director of the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic at Robson Hall, University of Manitoba. In addition, Mr. Pozios is an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and a sessional lecturer at the Asper School of Business. He teaches, writes, and supports research on a variety of topics connected to business law. Mr. Pozios’ primary interests lie in the areas of corporate development, governance, transactions, and finance. He holds a B.A. in Honors Political Science from the University of Western Ontario, a J.D. from the University of Manitoba, and an MBA from the University of Toronto.
